16 mm Films
Story

The film 16 mm is a popular and cheap film gauge, introduced for the first time by Eastman Kodak in 1923. The name comes from the caliber width of the photographic film which consists of strips 16 mm, and is not generally used for shooting and screenings of movie room, but rather for industrial films or for schools. Despite this, the 16mm film was often used for low-budget films. Since its inception is very used at a popular level by amateur filmmakers and household together with other economic gauges such as 8mm film or, later, the film Super 8 mm. The first piece of equipment introduced by Eastman Kodak consisted of a camera, a projector, a screen and a tripod and was sold at the price of $ 335. The first 16mm projector sound was instead introduced by RCA-Victor in 1932 and then developing a movie camera 16 mm with optical sound recovery in 1935.
16 mm, in the beginning, had a double lateral drilling and was obviously dumb. The set to grapple with the home theater included a camera, a projector and a tripod, and it cost a little more than half the price of a Ford T.
With the invention of sound it was introduced monoperforata version (still used today): on a side of the film so it found a place the soundtrack, first optics, then in the following also magnetic.
Today the 16 mm has become a professional format, given the high resolution provided by its frame (also top HDTV), and is used by many film productions when the use of 35 mm is prohibitive because of its cost.
In particular it was claimed the Super 16 mm.
